Week 2 of Briefbox's "Build Your Portfolio in 8 Weeks" set.
The artificial horticultural charity Hyvita, is a UK based charity which specializes in providing support, guidance and advice along with financial assistance to those struggling in the industry and have helped millions of people to date. The original prompt asks you to make 8 icons based on the varying services the charity offers. For this I started out connecting plants, vines, and leaves to a funky but smooth typeface. I ended up choosing Lobster as it is open source, as well it gave me hints towards being able to incorporate stems and leaves into the wordmark. For the leaf I wanted something nicely plump as well as bouncy.
When I chose my palette I wanted to keep simple and focus on 3 colors - earth, sun and plants. I chose a reddish brown to combine the themes of dirt, with human skin. My icons I wanted to again have the bounciness but also feel similar enough to the wordmark so I created them within the form of a circle, with a tapered boundary.
